This is a photo (one of the first) from Sunday's riots in light of the voting of the new austerity package that Greece was forced to vote in order for PSI+ and 130 bn. euro that comes with it will be approved. 

Basically, for those that are unfamiliar with all that, PSI+ is supposed to take some 100bn off Greece debt (more like 65bn) - thru swapping old bonds with new ones with different clauses.  

In order for all that to happen, Greece is forced to once more agree to austerity measures, such as 40% -in total- salary cuts in the private (not public) sector, 15% at least cuts in the pensions , people even with cancer will have to pay for their medicines -reminder, people already have been hit in their income, so a question is, how are they supposed to pay for expensive medicine when they have little money, a LOT, and I mean a LOT of taxation, no tax reliefs once so ever, not even to the handicapped or people with many children. 

Many of the austerity measures are against several law, international, european and so forth, but we were forced to vote them, as Germany and their allies (Luxembourgh, Holland, Austria and others) pretty much said that either we do that, with more than 180 votes in the parliament, or we'll be forced to leave the eurozone, with catastrophic effects. 

So, people went out on the streets, not asking to leave the eurozone, but asking for better negotiations...

This , is just before the special police units started using chemicals against people that somehow always find their way into the protests such as this, and after 3 hours managed to break a crowd estimate of 800,000 people. The main channels, talked of ..15,000 people. But I am sure you can make judge of what really 15,000 look like and if that indeed is 15,000 people. 

Needless to say, it was not the Greek people that were protesting, that burned the establishments.. but criminals.. that found their way there, that just wanted to create chaos, to loot. And they succeeded.

Eventually, the austerity measures now is a law of the country.. more than 40 buildings are in ruins... Greek people ... are shocked.. and angry.. and many just wonder bout the future, but all agree.. 

The future IS dark. 

While the Greek government is "fighting" for the good of the Greek People.. bringing to the Parliament for voting a set of laws I have no words to describe, laws that cut paychecks of the people in the private sector up to 50% , stealing up to 3 (some times 4) paychecks off their pockets, cutting down even more from the elder peoples' pensions and setting the salary for the young people up to 400 euro, if that, the crowd control special police units make sure , even with the help of banned tear gases and the help of so called 'radicals' that have been associated as secret police, more and more of the people will grow angry... is that a good  thing? No... But it is a reaction to all that troika and goverment agree to..

A message to Greece by ANONYMOUS

Instead of a post, this time a video. From ANONYMOUS, this was originally posted from them to the Greek DoJ after they hacked it.

How does one is supposed to feel, when they listen only to bad news, when certain media, politicians and other people are just playing a game, where they try to outright terrorize the people, only to just come on the last moment to tell them "look.. we've managed a 'deal' and things eventually are not -that- bad", while of course, in reality, by playing this game, they manage to push several things in your reality.. may that be cutbacks in pensions , in salaries, in healthcare.

How does one is supposed to feel when they read that there are children that faint in schools.. or are just brought to the verge of starvation, because their parents simply cannot afford to buy them something to eat before -and/nor during- school... and at the same time, the infamous troika come and say, bluttantly, that our partners , want more sacrifices.. cutbacks in our incomes..

And when the leader of a political party comes to tell you.. that noone has explained to the Greek People, what bankrupty really means, which in itself, this very statement begs for people to get out on the streets, to shout in anger, because trully, that is the politicians fault, to begin with, and one cannot say such a thing when things are so bad, someone perhaps should pose a question to the so called leaders of this country:

In the end of the day, when decisions need to be made , one has to weigh , the sacrifices, against the results. If the results of sacrifices in reality are pretty much the same to what you try to avoid (in this case a default), perhaps one should just give the finger to those that demand that the Greek people just starve, lose their pride, pretty much lose everything. 

So why...

.. did I create this blog in the first place?

Well, I guess I am utterly fed up with the situation in Greece. I guess I should have mentioned that before I started this post, but better late than never as they say, so I am Greek and damn proud of it, but I am not proud of the people that run this country. As I am not proud of the way that several of the people that live in the country think and act either (but we'll come to that later...).

As I said.. I am utterly fed up.

Let me draw you a picture. Contrary to what you may have heard in the media of your countries, people of this country, in the majority, that is, have been paying their taxes, paying their dues for their insurance system, in whole, they've been very honest people. Also, they've been very hard working people. If you don't take my word for it, please, take the time and visit the EU statistics site ( I'll try to find it for you ) and you'll see there that Greek work the most hours in average than every single worker in EU. Yet.. Greek people are not without faults. If you expected me to say this, you're mistaken. Many of the Greek people, were very stupid when they voted , each and every time since 1974. They voted , not with their heads, without thinking, what is best for the country,but either thinking that a party is like a football team (a preference), or , worse, voting for their own benefits. And so, from time to time we've had politics totally corrupt, politics that sank this nation in debts and corruption reigned supreme. And yes, one cannot only blame polititians for this, corruption is bipolar.

So, right now, I see the country that I love, suffering. I see, my father and mother, who worked their asses off, just suffering, having to struggle, although they've done nothing that being honest, because of the choices of the many. I see even myself, who, (believe this or not, I don't really care) I've always been paying my taxes and don't even have one parking ticket on my name, having to go thru ALL this, and now, I have to listen to some people coming from the IMF and EU just "demanding" that I have to "lose" up to two salaries.. not just me of course. Every single person that works in the private sector. And believe me when I say this, I don't care so much for just losing my money, it's more the fact that -I KNOW- what this is going to do to the Greek economy, the economy those gentlemen are supposed to be helping.. NOT.
I see , the vulchures circling over the almost dead body of Greece, waiting for it to die.. and I am getting angry. And I see a lot of people feeling the same and I worry.. I worry because I know that once people lose patience, there'll be bloodshed, one that people haven't seen before, for one that's lost hope, has nothing to lose.

I wonder, have people learned nothing from History yet? It was Greeks that said "It's better to breathe one hour of Freedom , rather than 40 years of slavery". Do all these people that really try to strangle this country, again, want to see the Greeks repeat history? ...
